Bishop Darryl S. Brister, Apostle/Overseer, after following Divine instruction from God was led to the city of Houma, LA to rekindle the fire of the Holy Ghost in the Houma and Tri- Parish area.  On September 6-7, 2002, Power Encounter Evangelistic Crusade was held at the Houma - Terrebonne Civic Center.  This event was the beginning of great things to come.

Tuesday Night Bible Study in the Houma Area began October 8, 2002. The First held in the conference room of the Hampton Inn Hotel.



Nov 2002
Bible study attendance continues to grow.  Over 70 persons attend.



Dec 2002
To accommodate the masses, Tuesday Bible Study is moved to The Ramada Inn Hotel Conference Room.

The Year of Unusual Opportunity



Bible Study attendance continues to increase, thus prompting the relocation to the Holiday Inn Holidome for better accommodation.A former Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall located at 214 Enterprise Drive was purchased to be the home of Beacon Light Baptist Church of Houma, LA.

Tuesday Bible study continues to grow and are now being held in their new home.

​March 2, 2003 marked a day to be remembered in the History books of Beacon Light.  The building Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held at 3:00 pm with over 300 persons in attendance.

The first 3:00 pm service is held with Bishop Darryl S. Brister ministering the word of God.

​

On March 15, 2003, the first New Member’s Orientation is held with over 100 members in attendance

April 7-9, 2003 - The Pastoral Installation Services held for the installation of Elder Herbert Andrew as Senior Pastor /Teacher of Beacon Light Baptist Church of Houma, LA.  The April 7th service was held at Beacon Light International Cathedral with Bishop Darryl S. Brister as the speaker.  The April 8-9th services were held at the Beacon Light Baptist Church of Houma, LA with Bishops Tommie Triplett and Paul S. Morton, Sr. as the guest speakers.



April 13, 2003 - Elder Herbert Andrew brought his first message as Senior Pastor/ Teacher of Beacon Light Baptist Church of Houma, La- entitled “The Time of Visitation”.

April 20, 2003 - 1st Resurrection Sunrise Service for 7:30 am- over 250 persons attended.

May 2003

May 3, 2003 - 1st Baptism held- over 20 baptized Pastor Andrew released his first 4-tape cassette series entitled “ Spiritual Warfare” with four more to follow.

May 28, 2003 - first Ministerial Alliance Meeting held.

September 14, 2003 – Elder Walter C. Adams, II added to the staff as 1st Assistant Pastor. 1st Sunday School Session held from 12:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

September 26, 2003- 1st Golden Vessels Women’s Ministry Book Club Meeting held discussing the book entitled “ Understanding the Purpose and the Power of Men” – A book for men and the women who love them. By Dr. Myles Munroe.

Youth and Young Adult Ministry begins October 12, 2003- The Ministry Must Meet the Needs of the People - New Service times- 7:30 am and 10:00 am



October 19, 2003 - Pastor Andrew releases 3rd Cassette Tape series entitled “Praise”



October 30, 2003 - Holyween Youth Extravaganza over 150 children in attendance.  The nights festivities included face painting, games and the ministry of the Youth and Young Adult Choir



Nov 2003

The Family of Light provided 75 families with full Thanksgiving Dinners including turkeys and all the trimmings.



12 noon Bible Study added to minister to the masses.



November 25, 2003 - the family of light came together as one to give thanks to God for the things he has done.

December 14, 2003- 9 Deacons Ordained during an Ordination Ceremony held at Beacon Light International Baptist Cathedral.



December 23, 2003- Members of the Family of Light adopted 100 children whose fathers are incarcerated and provided toys and gifts for them.



December 25, 2003- The Family of Light Worshipped together as Pastor ministered “ Unwrap Your Gift”



December 28, 2003- “ The Love of God” volume 1, Pastor Andrew’s 4th tape series is released.  



December 31, 2003- The Family of Light of Houma, LA joined other members of the Beacon Light International Ministries along with the members of the Greater St. Stephen Ministries in the UNO Lakefront Arena for a New Year’s Eve Preaching Explosion featuring Bishop Darryl S. Brister and Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr.  as the speakers.

“The Love of God”- volume II, Pastor Andrew’s 5th cassette tape series released.



Elder Roselean Green became the newest staff member as the Woman’s Counselor.  This makes three!



January 27-28, 2004 - Apostolic Address was given by Bishop Darryl S. Brister Apostle/ Overseer.



Sis. Tiffany Garth became the newest staff member serving as the Church Administrator and Executive Assistant to Pastor Andrew.

February 13, 2004 - 1st Marriage and Enrichment Ministry fellowship held



February 15, 2004 - Destiny Sunday



Pastor Andrew introduced his 6th tape series entitled “Wisdom”.



February 29, 2004 - Impact 100 Evangelistic Crusade held at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center. Beacon Light Baptist Church of Houma, LA served as the host church. 178 souls were won for Christ.
